The story:
Summary:I obtained this computer in 2023. It came with the device itself, a power distribution brick with an integrated monitor output and a non-standard tape recorder. The tape recorder proved to be inoperative.
Exterior:The exterior was in a fairly good condition. Some minor scrapes, but nothing major. A thorough clean was all that was needed really.
Interior:The interior was another issue. The cable connecting the computer with the keyboard was very brittle and had broken from the solder-points. I only needed to re-solder the connections to get it working. However, the foam pads behind every key cap had disintegrated with time and needed to be replaced. I managed to replace all of them with a 5 mm piece of foam, a rescue blanket, some thin double-sided tape and a stencil and a hammer. I found a guide on the World Wide Web with instructions on how to fabricate new foam pads. It was very successful!
Repairs:I checked and replaced all capacitors showing obvious signs of damage, as well as replacing caps and filters accessible in the power supply.
Upgrades:As it didn't come with the original tape player/recorder, I am planning on making a cable to connect the tape player with the computer correctly.
As for now it works in Luxor Basic, and looks good on the shelf as a piece of Swedish computer history!
Software:Software is via tape deck or an optional floppy drive, which I do not have.
I have obtained correct wires and plugs to retrofit a regular tape deck, but that lies in the future.
I am also looking for an expansion to put in the aft port.
